How to Change Health (HP) in CS 2 via Console

During training or playing with friends in Counter-Strike 2 (CS2), you may sometimes need to increase or decrease your health or that of your opponents. This can help make training more effective or simply add some fun to the game.

In this guide, we will explain how to increase or decrease health in CS2 using the console, why the method from CS:GO no longer works, and what alternative solutions have been found.

How to Increase or Decrease HP in CSGO

How to Increase or Decrease HP in CS:GO?

Why are we starting with CS:GO? Because in this version, there was a simple console command that allowed players to change health values:

  • ent_fire player addoutput "health 1000" – set your health to 1000 HP in CS:GO.
  • ent_fire !picker addoutput "health 10" – set the health of the player you are looking at to 10 HP.

Why Doesn’t This Method Work in CS2?

Attention! This console command no longer works in CS2. However, an alternative method for changing health has been found, which we will discuss below.

How to Enable Cheat Mode in CS2

How to Enable Cheat Mode in CS2?

Before changing the health amount, it is necessary to activate the cheat mode. To do this, the map creator (admin) opens the console (using the ` or ~ key) and enters the command:

  • sv_cheats 1 – activate cheat mode.

Once cheat mode is activated, you can proceed with changing the health (HP) in CS2.

How to Increase Health (HP) in CS2

How to Increase Health (HP) in CS2?

In CS2, changing health has become more complex. Now, you need to use a new method that involves executing multiple commands:

  • buddha true; buddha_reset_hp 1000; hurtme 200; buddha false – this sequence of commands will give you 1000 HP.

What Do These Commands Do?

  • buddha true — makes all players immortal, but their health can still drop to 1 HP.
  • hurtme 200 — deals 200 damage to yourself but does not kill you due to the previous command.
  • buddha_reset_hp 1000 — resets your health to 1000 HP (you can change the number).
  • buddha false — disables immortality for all players on the server.

Done! Now, only you have 1000 HP, making you practically “immortal”.

The buddha_reset_hp 1000 command does not work separately, so this sequence is necessary.

How to Decrease Health (HP) in CS2

How to Decrease Health (HP) in CS2?

Since CS2 does not allow setting an exact health value, the only way to reduce health is by dealing damage to yourself. This can be done using the following command:

  • hurtme 60 – without armor, decreases health by 60 HP (leaving you with 40 HP).
  • hurtme 60 – with armor, decreases health by 30 HP (leaving you with 70 HP).

Armor Considerations When Reducing Health

Note! If you have armor, the damage is halved. For example, to reduce health to 10 HP with armor, you need to deal 90 * 2 = 180 damage (hurtme 180).
